My name is Astrid and I'm a sports marketing major. Sports and animation don't really go hand in hand, yet one of my favorite animations is called Christen Press: Flower Girl (in case you want to watch, here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odOpWnSQbQA). It's a short video that tells a story of US soccer women's national team player, Christen Press. It was released 5 years ago and even though I was intrigued by animation before this video, it definitely made me think about the incorporation of animation in the sports world. It might be a little weird that someone majoring in sports marketing is interested in animation, but I definitely think knowledge in animation adds to the creative side of it. So far, I have no experience with animation other than consuming it, but I would like that to change. I expect to learn about the basics of animation with this class and expand my creativity and perspective when it comes to working with visuals in marketing and advertising. I think learning about animation and the process behind it will help me think outside the box. Combining what I learn in both fields will also help me come up with ideas that I wouldn't probably think of if I simply focused on the business aspect.
